Reliable handling of recycled films – the Mink web spreader roller masters PCR webs

August Mink GmbH & Co. KG

More and more film producers are turning to post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials to meet legal requirements and reduce raw material costs. However, recycled plastics present their own unique challenges during processing: fluctuating melt indices, inconsistent film properties and, as a result, web runs that are prone to creasing, skewing and variations in tension.

This is precisely where the Mink web spreader roller comes into play. Thanks to the characteristic inclination of the bristles from the centre to the outer edge, the web is continuously and gently spread to full width – without surface pressure, without marks. Non-uniform recycled webs are reliably smoothed out before defects are introduced into the roll.

Recycled films are also significantly more prone to electrostatic charging than virgin material. The conductive version (AL) combines the mechanical smoothing effect with reliable electrostatic discharge in a single component – less dirt accumulation, no jamming and reliable protection for downstream electronics.

Your benefits at a glance:

• Crease-free conveyance even with non-uniform PCR and PIR webs

• No marks or imprints on sensitive recycled films

• Optional integrated electrostatic discharge (AL version)

• No drive, no compressed air connection – maintenance-free and low-wear
